office.gif I am really supprised how many of you are in the Construction/Engineering Fields. coffee.gif

For the last 7 years I worked as a civil and structural engineer for a whole bunch of clients from small private jobs to big state jobs.

As of the beginning of the year I started my own consulting buisness and we now specialize in Facility Maintainance, Construction Management/Surveying, and Enviormental Permitting.
Our current projects span from the East Coast to the West Coast.

My short term goal is to get involved with the natural gas drilling. Also if anyone is intrested in parterning up a few projects drop me a PM. We are really small right now and can use the help.

I am a mechanic/operator for Impress USA currently. I have been there for almost 2 years now. We make metal cans and pull top lids for the cans. We make cans for bumble bee tuna, 9 lives cat food, canned heat, Delmonte foods. I previously worked at Foam Fabricators for 12 years. I made packaging foam for computer, tv's, if you ever bought a Arrow staple gun we made the foam! While I was there I worked every position in the plant (other then office jobs). When I left I was the warehouse manager, and a part time truck driver when needed. Still have my cdl for a back up job, but I really never want to drive again.

I've been working at a local CBS Television affiliate for the past 11yrs. Primarily I'm a commercial photographer, but I also write/direct/produce/edit/& engineering

I'm also one of those people who "can-do-everything" as well. I can pretty much fill in in any dept throughout the station. cool.gif

Well due to a chance at luck, I landed a new position at the plant, far better then starting over somewhere else. My new position is called an "Engineering Technician" specializing in high vacuum sputtering. My new job will allow me to learn far more about the process then I could ever learn being a process technician. New responsibility will include working with vendors, development of new process procedures, and development of new product lines. The only other aspect is my hours changed to a mon-fri type rather then my 4 on 4 off schedule. That is taking a bit to get used to (aside from getting used to WORKING again)

I guess it's my turn - For the last 28 years I've been an IT weenie for a little publishing company in Princeton. I guess I shouldn't really say for the last 28 years because September of 08, they decided that they could get my job done cheaper so they sent it to India (notice I'm still here without it.) disgusted.gif

Anyway Jun of 07 I started working part time at a little amusement park that you may have heard of - Six Flags Great Adventure where I met Erik and Mike. Over the last two years I've worked my way up to supervisor in the admissions department.

I'd like to hit the lottery and ride the Rincon for a living but that just ain't gonna happen disgusted.gif

See ya'll on the trails ...

I didn’t know there were so many people like me out there.

Ok I guess It's my turn to tell my history.

After getting thrown out of High School I got a job on a cattle farm. We ran around 300 head of feeder cattle, if any of you know what that means, buy them at 400lbs and sold them off at 800lbs to a finish farm in Delaware.

First real job was AT&T copy boy; back then they were getting sued so often they had 2 floors of a building 5000sqft each stuffed with copiers and people to copy files for court cases.

That led to a job with Western Electric rebuilding rotary telephones on an assembly line. A few of you should remember when you rented your telephone from Ma Bell. Assembly line work literally drove me crazy.

Did a couple of semesters at Tinker Toy Tech School (local community collage) to find out I still heated school.

Next I got a job at a boat shop and learned Evinrude & Johnson outboards, fiberglass boats, and boat trailers. Winter time work was selling and installing wood stoves.

A good friend got me in the Carpenters Union; did 4 year apprenticeship and 10 years as a Journeyman. Mostly commercial started in drywall & metal stud framing ended in architectural millwork, lots of oak, walnut, mahogany, cherry & maple, cabinets, countertops & trim in very fancy office buildings in D.C. My back and most of my joints gave out so I had to change carriers.

I spent a couple of years at Radio Shack sales & store manager, a lot of work for not enough money.

BS’ed my way into an IT job with a collection agency, spent the next 13 years doing everything from pulling cable to configuring routers, switches, firewall & sat modems to building servers & PCs to all kinds of Windows Servers management to end user PC & application support. My last IT job the boss was such a PITA I had to leave after getting a stint in one of my coronary arteries. I guess I should thank the guy; I wouldn’t have known I had a blockage if he didn’t do such a good job of bustin my balls.

Now I’ve got a desk job as an annalist working for a Navy contractor at Pax River Navel Air Station. Boring as crap but it pays the bills.
